Swarrrm ‎– Nise Kyuseishu Domo (Thee Imitation Messiahs)

Some may say grindcore. Some other chaotic music. And the rest of the world, just noise. This time, the average listener wins by sudden death. No,the label given is not right. But it is better for your own good, not to make a single effort to place Swarrrm in a particular genre.

Yes,they still use guitar, bass, drums and vocals.Yes,they say they play grindcore and love hardcore punk. And yes, that is a cover with some typical elements of fast and extreme music. But now it's time to stop lucky guessing.Mandolin is the first picture that your symbolic thinking delivers you,and suddenly you remember the last song is called "putrecence".

I will try to give some advice.Jazz,no wave, noise rock, crust and somewhere there is a piano. No,they are not tags, just some little gasps of air.Oh yes,and the term "emotional" will cut you in half.

Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou - Ethiopiques Vol. 21: Piano Solo

No,you won't fine her in some independent movie's soundtrack or being sampled for happy-go lucky artist.Modern european and american structures combined with blues technics, all blended with Ethiopian tradition.Magnificent beyond words and with a personal touch that is very hard to find.

Basil Kirchin - Abstractions of the Industrial North

A man of disguise and variation,Basil Kirchin always seems to amaze me.Although this release reffers to his soundtrack experimentations, you can clearly see his compelling roots.

Somewhere between surrealism and genius,Kirchin insisted on creating music for fiction movies.Free from optical and musical boundaries, using tapes and field recordings managed to create his own system.A system full of eastern sounds, psychedelic touches, jazz patterns and contemporary orchestration.

Well, this should be more of a movie critic since Kirchin's vision was to give up his jazz restrictions and create more fluid acts but i decided not to give up spoilers.

Armour Of God

There you have it.The only tracks Armour Of God managed to record, the one side of the 3rd Stone split.Three tracks that stand for the fast paced takes of Iron Monkey along with the more brutal side of JPM.Pay your respect .

Helena Gough - Mikroklimata

"As a sculptor might bury their hands in their chosen media,
or chip away at a block until what remains stands as a physical
manifestation of what exists in their imagination, so Helena
Gough’s music is the end product of a long process of collecting
and manipulating material, kneading it, tearing it, reducing it
down, building it back up, somehow knowing when to stop and
present what is left.

Gough is a composer working in the digital realm. This, her
second album, comes nearly four years after the first, with
the intervening years spent gathering small fragments of sound
from a variety of places, which she then processed and altered
continually until finally weaving them together in an intensive
session of concentrated intuitive composition lasting just a few
months. The sounds that appear on Mikroklimata began life
as field recordings, digital and analogue synth experimentation
and recordings of acoustic improvisation sessions by George
Cremaschi and Peter Evans. The origins of the sounds are all
long gone, however, lost in the process of crunching the material
into its malleable state. If there ever was recognisable bass or
trumpet sounds in here, they lost their identifying character
some way down the line.

The four pieces that come out of the other end of this process
sound thoroughly physical. Twisting, turning knots of sound
tighten and unravel as they progress along their muscular
journey, full of rapid shifts in pace and dynamic. Gough’s sound-
world is thoroughly digital, the natural acoustic presence of the
displaced samples is replaced by a vibrant synthetic torsion as
they come back together in composition. However, despite the
computerised texture and minute detail of its constituent parts,
Mikroklimata sounds very human, its shapes and progressions
resembling an improvising saxophonist in full flight. Not unlike
the music of Gough’s contemporary John Wall, these compositions
somehow sound fluid and natural, as if played by some massed
orchestra of alien instruments rather than pieced together from
hundreds of smaller fragments. Powerful, expressive musique
concrète for the 21st century, Mikroklimata stands out from the
crowd as a work of considerable substance."

Christian Marclay & Günter Müller - Live Improvisations

Armed with various customed electronic effects and wired drums,Günter Müller joined the "anti-hiphop" turntablist Christian Marclay for improvised chaos fun.

From eclectic samples and fine glitches to astonishing hissing noise, the duo managed to perform an acoustic exhibition stating that every unwanted sound has much to offer.

Roland Kayn - Cybernetic Music III

Electroacoustic music, tape music, concrete music, great stories of french and german theorists,an italian guy with weird hair.It seems a great party and a great occasion for me to show off.

I'll try to keep it plain and simple:ABSOLUTE ELECTRONIC HORROR

Cosmonauts Hail Satan - Cape Cannibal Skull Island Apocalypse

I can't  really recall the way i got hooked up with Cosmonauts Hail Satan.Maybe it was some metalfriend's suggestion followed by "yo dude, they wrote a couple songs for the hellraiser movie" or a catchy post on random blog about the "great secrets of the noise underground".Well, besides these common traps,i found out the real reason.

Not your average noise rock band, they manage to combine reverse melodies with samples and hypnotic atmosphere.Monotonic war drums, compulsive guitars and a great low-fi outcome.Without much effort,Cape Cannibal Skull Island Apocalypse is the release you searched for:noisy, psychedelic with movie samples. And yes, this is a random blog.

Aaron Dilloway - Since He's Been Gone

A man of mystery for sure,Aaron Dilloway never gets tired of making special releases.Loads of lovely noise and improvisation. But in this one, things are getting a little odd,in a good way.

Space sounds, attractive oscillators and noise,a whole bunch of beautiful noise.I got to say that being Aaron Dilloway never felt so good.

Gone.

The Three Sounds - Elegant Soul

More than a usual suspect,Gene Harris along with Andrew Simpkins and Bill Dowdy, under the kind of cynical name The Three Sounds, managed to do something extraordinary. In particular, they are so badasses that made Madlib to give up sampling and just put some random beats.Poor guy.

In one of their last recordings and somewhere at the rise of blackexploitation and tuxedo music, with the blessings of a string orchestra of course, they still make you reconsider of your coolness and style.

Praise the elegance .
